How does ASI ensure compliance after the initial accreditation?
ASI regularly evaluates the competence of a certification body. Each year, the head office undergoes an office assessment; affiliate offices are assessed at least every five years. In addition, a small sample of all audits is supervised through a witness assessment.
In case a nonconformity has been detected, ASI follows up to ensure that corrective action is been implemented. As part of ASI’s complaints and appeal procedures, short notice assessments may be arranged in high-risk environments or to resolve a significant complaint from a stakeholder.
Each accreditation is valid for up to five years if the results of the annual surveillance audits are in general satisfactory.
