1. Privacy Policy and Terms of Use

ASI Accreditation Services International GmbH (hereinafter ASI) is pleased that you have chosen to visit this website. Your privacy and the protection of your data while using this website are of great importance to ASI. ASI therefore undertakes to protect your privacy and to treat your data confidentially. ASI’s intention here is to inform you about which parts of your personal data are recorded during your visit to this website and which purposes it is used for. Changes to the law or changes to internal corporate processes can necessitate adjustments to this privacy policy. We would therefore recommend that you re-read it at regular intervals.

This privacy policy and these terms of use apply for the website of ASI.

  1. Definitions

“Personal data” constitutes pieces of information concerning personal and other circumstances regarding a specific or identifiable natural person, e.g. name, address or telephone number. Information which cannot be linked to a natural person (or only by exerting disproportionate effort) does not constitute personal data.

The web pages upon which ASI provides its information are referred to collectively as the “ASI website”.

The people who make use of the ASI website are referred to as “users”.

Users who have registered with the ASI website are referred to as “registered users”.

Personal data entered for registered user-only parts of the ASI website is referred to as “registration details”.

  1. Basic principles for the processing of personal data

ASI is governed by the following principles in its handling of users’ personal data:

3.1 ASI collects, processes and uses personal data in compliance with the relevant data protection laws of the Federal Republic of Germany where the ASI website is based.

3.2 ASI uses the personal data of the users exclusively to allow them to access the services provided on the ASI website. Under no circumstances shall ASI forward users’ personal data to third parties or otherwise grant them access to it unless this is necessary for providing the service which ASI has been requested to perform.

3.3 Exceptions to item 3.2 may arise due to legal requirements which necessitate collaboration with criminal investigation or other authorities, or in the event of there being specific grounds to suspect that the ASI website is being abused and that legal requirements are being contravened.

3.5 Where users have consented to their data being processed in ways which go beyond what is necessary for fulfilment of the contract, it shall be possible for them to revoke their declaration at any time.

  1. Log files

Every time a web page is opened, access data is saved in a report file, the server log. The data record which is saved contains the following information:

  • the IP address of the user (which can be used to identify his/her computer, if required);
  • the remote host (name and IP address of the computer requesting the page)
  • the time, status, amount of data transferred and the web page from which the user arrived at the page in question (the “referrer”), and
  • the product and version information of the browser used (the “user agent”).

Users’ IP addresses are anonymized shortly after the connection to the ASI website has ended.   ASI only analyses these log files in the event of abuse of our website. ASI also reserves the right to check the log files of users retrospectively in cases where there are specific grounds for suspecting them of using the ASI website for illegal purposes or purposes which are contrary to the terms of the contract. No further use of the log files is made, e.g. for statistical purposes.

  1. Cookies

The ASI website makes use of cookies. Cookies are small text files which are stored on the user’s computer when the ASI website is opened. The cookies used are not capable of downloading data from hard disks or of forwarding email addresses or other user data to ASI.

If users do not wish to save ASI website cookies, they can deactivate these in their browser or adjust the browser settings to prevent any cookies being saved on their computer. We would like to point out, however, that it may not then be possible to exploit the full range of functions available on the ASI website.

5.1 ASI uses the Twitter “Tweet” Button and related cookies to let people easily promote articles to their friends via Twitter provided by Twitter Inc. The following Data is collected by the Twitter “Tweet” Button and the related cookies:

This website uses on some subpages Google Maps to display interactive maps and to create driving directions. Google Maps is a map service from Google Inc. (Google), 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, California 94043, USA.

When users visit a page on our website that includes Google Maps, the users browser will connect directly to the servers of Google. The card’s contents are provided by Google directly to the users browser which embeds the latter into the website. Therefore, we have no influence on the scope of the data collected in this way by Google. According to our knowledge, these are at least the following data:

  • Date and time of the users visit to the website in question ,
  • Internet address or URL of the website is open ,
  • IP address ,
  • Entered in the route planning (start) address.

We have no control in which way google processes the users data and therefore cannot accept any responsibility.

If users do not wish that Google processes their data, they can adjust their browser settings to prevent that any cookies being saved on their computer. In this case, however, users cannot use the map display.
