Dr Sönke Fischer, Senior Accreditation Program Manager Fisheries

Sönke Fischer is responsible for managing the MSC and ASC accreditations programs. Before joining ASI, he worked as a researcher on the impacts of climate variations on fisheries management. For his research, he spent several years in Central & South America. He has also worked as a trainer and environmental educator in a marine protected area.

Dr Fischer holds a PhD in Marine Ecology from the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research and an MSc in Tropical Aquatic Ecology from the University of Bremen, Germany. Dr Fischer is a German national and speaks English, Spanish and German.
