FSC Compliance Audits in the Congo Basin
The Forest Stewardship Council asked ASI to undertake a series of compliance audits of all current Forest Management and Controlled Wood certificates in the Congo Basin starting September 2011. ASI will adopt a certificate holder performance approach and assess auditor competency. Four FSC principles are of special concern for the compliance audits: Principle 9 (High Conservation Value Forests), Principle 3 (Indigenous Peoples), Principle 4 (Community Relations) and Principle 1 (Legal issues and poaching).
Compliance audits are audits undertaken by ASI to verify the competence of the certification body, the adequacy of the certification recommendation and the company’s conformity with specific certification requirements. For more information please contact Carlos Ruiz-Garvia.
