ASI is pleased to announce that three Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) have been accredited to perform Sustainable Biomass Program (SBP) certification. Control Union Certifications B.V., NEPCon OÜ and SCS Global Services have successfully undergone the transition from SBP approval to ASI accreditation over the past year, and may therefore continue to offer certification services for SBP.

ASI was appointed as the sole accreditation body for SBP in August 2016. All CABs that were approved by SBP, and any new CAB wishing to offer SBP certification, was required to apply for and undergo the full accreditation process with ASI in order to maintain their ability to offer SBP certification services.

Ana Dahlin, ASI Program Manager for the SBP Accreditation Program, explained, “Working with SBP and the approved CABs to transition to accreditation has been an exciting challenge for ASI. We are pleased to have contributed to improving the strength and credibility of the SBP system, by providing accreditation services to the scheme.”

Currently, another two CABs are undergoing the initial accreditation process. Read more about the SBP accreditation process, ASI’s role and the impact on certificate holders here.
