In May to June 2016, ASI underwent an ISEAL external evaluation against ISO/IEC 17011:2004 – ‘Conformity assessment – General requirements for accreditation bodies accrediting conformity assessment bodies’. All ISEAL accreditation body members are required to show compliance with ISO/IEC 17011:2004 as a prerequisite for membership in ISEAL.
We are pleased to report that overall, ASI’s Quality Management System was found to be effectively implemented and in conformance with ISO/IEC 17011:2004. As with any evaluation, the results gave us confidence that our accreditation services are generally sound. We also found the whole evaluation process to be very useful, and have implemented various actions to improve our systems as a result.
The evaluation was conducted by a representative of an ISEAL peer member, David Crucefix, Executive Director of IOAS, and an external evaluator José Augusto Allão Kendall Pinto de Abreu, Director of Sextante Consultoria.
You can find details in the evaluation report, published last week by ISEAL, which identifies strengths and best practices as well as findings of non-conformity and actions taken or planned to address them.
