ASI Spring Update: New Office, New Staff

Posted on 02 May 2011 in ,

Springtime brought some changes at Accreditation Services International: A new office, new staff and continuous improvements to our systems. Our aim is a continued, ongoing and smooth interaction with certification bodies. Our investment in a customized Accreditation Management System is starting to pay off: Assessment scheduling, reporting and administrative management processes are now synchronized to interact better across the entire accreditation system.

New Office

Accreditation Services International moved to larger premises in March. The new office is located at:

New Staff

To further strengthen the quality of ASI’s work, Guntars Laguns and Sönke Fischer have been appointed as Senior Accreditation Program Managers for the Forestry and Fisheries programs respectively. Their responsibilities will be to coordinate and support an expanding team of ASI lead assessors.

The ASI team is growing, primarily in North America and North Asia. Four new assessors have started with the team: Anne Nistadand Edith Lam are working as lead assessors for the MSC Chain of Custody program and are based in the UK and China, respectively.  Xiangjun Yang and Ned Daly are undergoing training as lead assessors for the FSC Chain of Custody program.Xiangjun is based in China and Ned in the US. This expansion of Chain of Custody expertise within the ASI team will allow those ASI assessors who have a predominant background in natural resources to focus on forest and fisheries management compliance.

As Compliance Manager, Paolo Tranquillini will be responsible for ensuring that ASI maintains the credible implementation of standards on behalf of scheme owners. He will lead ASI’s global compliance efforts in resolving queries and complaints raised by stakeholders on a case by case basis by undertaking investigations as and where necessary.

Romona Anton has accepted the new role of Business Administration Manager. She ensures the smooth running of ASI’s core administrative functions by providing an efficient, cost-effective support service. The unit manages ASI’s financial processes and is also responsible for providing the day-to-day administrative support and management of human resources, procurement, IT services, travel and logistics, insurance and other support for staff as required.
